In Erding we have built up one of Germany's largest district heating supply systems that uses hot deep groundwater. On behalf of the municipality and rural district of Erding we operate two geothermal heating plants with connected district heating system. They supply public buildings, family homes, businesses and the Erding thermal spa (the world's biggest according to the operator) with geothermal heat from a depth of 2,350 meters. Around ten percent of Erding's residents are supplied with local geothermal heating energy.
